I use this : Verify your identity (though I don't remember paying quite that much for mine) .... and let it gravity drain into a 5gal gas can, once I get the gas flowing thru the tube.
Need to drain about 12 gallons of fuel from the built in fuel tank on my boat. Any ideas on easy way to do this?

Get some clear 3/8 tubing so you can see the fuel and siphon until you see the fuel creep over the gun wale then drop hose in a can. Cap end off when full and uncap when you get a different can. This depends on where you fill with fuel though put basic principle is the same.

If you lived closer I would loan you my 12V fuel transfer pump I made. It has really come in handy of the years.

Old enough to know better and way too old to care!
Walmart automotive section has the hose pictured above with the bulb branded "Pennzoil". I have a couple of 'em, they get the job done, but the small hose goes kinda slow.
When I was growing up, I used an old piece of garden hose, that's how we got gas for the mowers, tiller, and of course my little old Honda 65 motorcycle! I would stick it down as far in the tank as it would go, blow into it as I would feel and listen to find who had the most gas in their tank, Mother or Dad. Not good southern etiquette to take gas from your folks when they didn't have much in the tank - but if the fuel level was high in there, my brother and I would go for it! "Go get another can, Bro..." Ride, ride, ride...
Lots of ways to siphon.
Easiest is probably to remove your primer bulb and use that to get it started, or use a blow gun and start a venturi siphon.
You can also buy a transfer pump or one of those jiggle hoses.
Last time i emptied my tank, i unhooked the primer bulb from the motor and hung it over the transom as close to the ground as possible and started pumping the bulb, it drained the tank in a few minutes.
