What do you mean by "foot"? Are those on the motor housing?
Those spots look like something was rubbing on them getting through the finish, which looks to be powder painted.
I remember reading somewhere that this a sign of a problem. Anybody have any information on this.

Looked my picture again and dang that's a terrible picture. Yeah that's the outer housing and no I do not trailer with a cover. I'll try to get a better picture tomorrow maybe it's just from the rest for the motor when stowed.

I agree, looks more like a rub mark than a hot spot to me.
do you always store the motor on the same side
Agree it looks like a rub mark. What you want to watch for is paint that is kind of peeling off and a white powder developing in that area. If you ever have that or a lot of rust marks it’s a sure sign you have a bad ground on or in your boat somewhere.

Yeah most of the time if I don't the head sticks out the hull of the boat just a bit. That mark does match up with the cradle. I was worried especially about it being electrical with it starting to squeal. Ordered a lower bearing, seal kit and through bolts yesterday. Sent from my E6810 using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
