    Default lifting rig set up

i am working on a rig set up to attach to my 9.9 hp motor so 1 man can get it off the boat, i don't plan on leaving it on all the the time, going to add supports to my rafters in my garage and some kind of a rig to attach to the motor and lift it off with a small hoist, anyone been down this road or possibly have some pics so i get some ideas

    thanks

I did the same thing, only I supported the cross brace with 2x4's from the floor. I put my hoist on the cross brace and took off a 85 horse Johnson and replaced it with a 100 HP 'rude. Worked like a charm.

A 9.9 isn't all that heavy, I lifted a 75hp Suzuki off the rafters with a heavy ratchet strap.

A lot of motors have a lift hook, but that 9.9 may not since they are typically just lifted off by hand. You would need to rig up a bridle of some sort, as there is seldom anything to lift from in the cowl.

a 9.9 is not that heavy unless you only weigh 100 lbs, look it up i think it should only be around 80lb

Problem is as you get older, they get heavier.
