    Default Rod storage decision

I have a small aluminum boat that needs the horizontal rod storage rack raised 1.5 " from the bench seat top. I originally thought aluminum tube. Problem is that I can't find it in the right size for under a million $'s. So now I am deciding between perforated zinc plated tube or 2x2 painted wood. The zinc steel tubing kind of worries me with contact with the aluminum. It need not be pretty just functional. So wood wins?

Zinc is not very reactive with aluminum, however it will rust eventually unless you paint it, especially the raw edges.
