    Default Trailer help...

I need to lower my trailer height and the tires/rims are the only option at this point.
Currently I have ST205/75R14C on the trailer, 4 14” tires. I was looking at 13” tires in the sa,e load rating and per the tire chart the 13” tires/rims would lower the trailer by 2+ inches and a 12” tire would drop the trailer by 3”
before I buy 4 new tires/rims I wanted to ask if anyone has done this or does it make sense lol?

I took off 14's and put on 10" pontoon wheels/tires to lower mine. It's been that way a dozen years or more with zero problems.

What are you lowering the trailer for?

If the ramps are too shallow, lengthening the tongue can help as well.

Move the axle above the springs if you have room between tires and fenders.

Smaller tires will add additional wear to the bearings as smaller tires turn significantly more revolutions per mile. Make sure you check and repack the bearings at least annually if you are going smaller. Also, the weight ratings for smaller tires are usually lower too so do the math on your fully loaded rig vs. the tire specs to be sure you don't create yourself an issue.

Lowering the trailer will make a big difference in loading the boat. Bunks may be too deep when the trailer is just in the water.
