Yamaha lube seems real expensive. Mine is 2018 F90 4 stroke, what lower unit lube do y'all like?
I may just go Yamaha, but I'm just past the warranty period so that's not an issue.

I just use a good 90w gear oil, but my motor is a 1980 model

    Lucas or Quicksilver.

I have used Walmart oil in the past. It is terrible at emulsifying water, any time I've used it in a lower unit that had a small leak, water would separate.

Quicksilver high performance, I like it because it’s blue, can see if there is any wear from the gears easier in my opinion.

If the motor is under warranty I would NOT deviate from what the manufacturer recommends for warranty reasons. Another thought...a little more for the Yamaha or whatever the engine mfr recommends costs less than a new lower unit. I have a Mercury (2018) and only use what MERC recommends. Just my humble opinion.

Walmart Tech brand, costs half as much so I change it twice as often.
1992 Mercury 115 2 stroke, no problems yet.
I change the yellow crush washers on the plugs every 2 or 3 years, no issues with them either.
Just can't bring myself to change them every time like some folks do.
I remove the prop each time, check behind it, then anti seize the shaft. I rarely find fishing line behind it, I think the trolling motor prop finds it all! Sometimes it looks like a bird nest behind that prop.
