I had a friend who owned an Alumna -craft "Crappie Jon " that was .063 . Never knocked a hole in it but had some serious dents . If buying for the long haul go for it . Resale on one will be Tough . look for War eagle , Excel , Express , Sea ark . They will not be in the bargain bin but well made . I am sure there are others that I have had no dealings with that are good .I started with a 12 ft. war eagle and have bought and sold (buy in winter, sell in spring ) every size between 1232 to 1754 . Have made money on every sale . I would look for an older boat if I wanted to save money . Some like war Eagle have lifetime warranty regardless if you are the original or second owner .

All good info so far. Academy sells alumacraft boats and trailers too. They might also have the weight info you’re looking for.

I've owned both types and both will work fine. Go with the best you can afford, if you can afford welded .100 aluminum then you will be happy with the investment. If you can only afford the small lighter boat, then it will work just fine but maybe not last as long. By the time it shows it's age (15-20 years?) you will have probably upgraded.
