    Default Tractor problem

Well this isn't fishing related but I thought some of you guys/gals might be able to help me out on here. I have an Allis Chalmers 5015 diesel tractor that I can't get the back arms to pick anything up. Will go down but won't pick up any weight. We have drained the hydraulics twice, the 1st time it was milky and we have changed the hyd. filter twice. Also my brother found a couple of small pieces of plastic in the fluid when we drained it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'd bet a hamburger that you're going to wind up replacing the hydraulic pump.

Does it have a strainer in the sump?

Be glad to pay that up if that is the problem! Know where I can find one?

Not sure how the hydraulic pump is set up on this particular tractor, but I have seen a tractor sheer a key that spun the pump shaft, took us forever to figure it out. put another key in it and started working again.

I'll have to check on that. Thanks.

I just did a quick Google on "Allis Chalmers 5015 Hydraulic Pump" and came up with lots of hits for both replacement pumps and rebuild kits.

One more thing to think about - since you found plastic parts in your hydraulic fluid I'd start trying to track down 2 things. 1. What parts inside the system use plastic parts? 2. Where could any of those parts be lodged creating a blockage?

Do what Doyle did. Google search that pump, then see if you can’t find a diagram for the system. That should give you a breakdown on parts plus an idea where that plastic looking stuff could have come from. I suspect pump seals have come apart plus some of it could be stuck in bypass valve. Shouldn’t be to hard to rebuild once you see a drawing and what parts you need.
