    Default Need a new hull

I have a really good 75hp engine, trolling motor, electronics
,and trailer for 17 ft semi-v.

My 17ft Triton tournament vt leaks and I'm tired of it.
Can anyone make suggestions on where to look for a hull. New or used.

Insurance companies. They sell stolen boat recoveries cheap. Frequently, a thief will steal a boat, strip the components, and abandon the hull. When police find the hull the insurance company which paid the owner's claim takes possession of the hull and sells it for salvage.

Yep. That site appears to be a national search engine but there are regional yards too. A buddy of mine down in SW FL was an inshore guide. His 23' bay boat started to develop some stringer separation issues that would have cost BIG $ to fix. So, he searched and found an identical hull to his that was a stripped theft recovery and swapped his motor, electronics, and accessories over to the new hull and hauled the old one to the landfill.

Go buy a Backwoods boat off the Mooresville exit on 565 like going to limestone creek. They have from bare hulls to fully rigged boats. I really like them too. Mr Woods will hook you up

Mr Grease, I went back to your original post and read that your current Triton was leaking. I always thought Triton made a decent hull (maybe I'm wrong). I would think that there are only a finite number of places where it could leak and that any leak could be fixed by a good welder. Is that an option for you instead of replacing the whole hull?

The trouble with aged aluminum is the electrolosis. When heat is applied it has a tendency to split. When you are paying a weld shop 100$/hr and the owner whom I consider a friend tells you to use flex seal and find another hull. You quit wasting your money.

Any luck on the search? What about a fiberglass boat? I'd suggest a pontoon, but then you'd also need a different trailer.
