Default Toasted a set of gears and a prop.

Short story. I hate typing on my phone.
    Hit a tree or rock.
    Couple pics of the damage.
Old and new gears for comparison.
I carry a spare prop but not spare gears.
Lower unit is completely disassembled. Order a few more parts. Going swimming.Name: 20200703_124650.jpg

Bummer! I did that the first and only time I took my boat to Lake Fork, when I lived in Texas. The dealer had sold me an all inclusive warranty and it paid for itself.

    Good luck.

OUCH that one did hurt, lucky you can do the rebuild yourself, I always sucked at setting up gear lash correctly.

It's great you can do the repairs yourself.
My boat mechanic told me SS props were the greatest thing invented - for him.
He said when you hit a rock, tree or stump with an aluminum prop, you bend or lose an ear of the prop. When you hit the same with an SS prop, you lose gears. He said "on impact, sumthin gotta give" with a big smile.
    Sorry for your loss.

There's gear lash in a lower unit? My repair manual doesn't mention any adjustment, other than the shifter.

Yep. No leaks, no cracks. All the bearings are intact except one. Ordered a new one. Fortunately it goes on the reverse gear and isn't a press fit.

Yep. Aluminum prop is all I run. Buddy used to machine props for the Navy and he told me the same thing. I got lucky it was just the prop , gears, and one bearing. Could have been much worse. Although its not back together and tested yet. We shall see.
