Default Powering a Grizzly 1754, anybody have one?

Just got myself a new Tracker Grizzly 1754. A bare boat, but I'm building a side console for it. I'd like to know if anyone else has this boat and what they are powering it with.
Max is 75hp, and I kinda have my heart set on a Yamaha just because that's what my marine mechanic of 35 years currently sells. The Yammy 75 is 100 pounds heavier than their 70 (completely different engines).
I'd like to know what others are using and what kind of performance they are getting.

    TIA

I can only offer what I experienced when renting a Grizzly 1860 last year. It was equipped with a Merc 40 4-stroke. With just the wife and I in it (no gear, live well empty) it would plane out just so-so. Not a speed demon by any means. Therefore, I could extrapolate that either the 70 or 75 with a 1754 should make it almost fly.

I’d save the 100 lbs and don’t think you would see 2 cents worth of difference in performance 70 make that boat fly.

Found this on BBC board ... different boat than yours, but even so it shows the performance isn't all that much better with the 75hp over the 70hp.

Yamaha Performance Boat Test (F70 & F75) with a Zodiac Inflatable Model 550:

    Boat Tested Weight: F70 = 1,502 lbs.
    F75 = 1,623 lbs.

Optimum Cruise Data: F70 22.1 mph 2.6 gph 8.5 mpg
    F75 23.9 mph 3.5 gph 6.83 mpg

Wide Open Throttle: F70 37.0 mph 6.0 gph 6.17 mpg
    F75 39.5mph 8.5 gph 4.65 mpg

Ended up with a 90 on my 1860. It's overkill. But, if I remember correctly, there was only a few hundred dollars difference between the 70 and 75.

    For reference - I had a 2004 G3 1756dlx, console, deck extension, 3 batteries, 20 gal fuel tank, rated for a 70hp.
The boat came with a '04 Yamaha 4stoke 50hp, it ran 32mph ( phone speed). I swapped it for a '93 Yamaha 25hp 2stroke , it ran 22mph (phone speed and GPS on graph).
I thought the hole shot was the same, never timed it though.
I never did experiment with different props on the 50hp.

    Hope this helps.
    Drinkin coffee, missin fish.
