    Default Trim problem

Nissan 50HP DFI (2003) trim goes up but will not go down. You can here both the switches click but no downward movement. Any suggestions?

May be a bad relay. Just because it clicks does not mean its good. Try swapping them.

Had that happen to my 90hp Merc .... bad relays .... bought 2 new ones & swapped them out, myself. Good thing it was a pretty simple, straightforward job, as I'm not the least bit mechanically inclined.

2008 Merc 75 Opti. My trim switch on engine quit trimming down....up still worked. Switch is 70$ so just made do. Fast forward a few months.. I'm walking by the boat and all of a sudden I hear the PT start trimming down on the motor totor. Switch had decided to fail closed. Praises that it happened while I was off rather than at work. Pushed up on trim switch and hollered for wife to hold the up while I disconnected the battery.

Swap the relays and you can diagnose whether it's the switch or the relays. Where I shop switches and relays are expensive and non returnable. And if it is the switch disconnect it till you replace it. Lesson learned for me
