the circuit went out and on the flat plug is no longer available . found a u tube that you can replace it with the newer one . i just finished mine and it works fine . i do have a bad connection in the flat plug. when it don`t work the steering motor i can wiggle it and it starts working. going to get some contact cleaner and clean it and add contact grease. will update how that works

I had the same problem. I initially thought it was in the motor housing so I bought another motor housing. Still had intermittent steering. Cleaned the pedal and that was not the problem. It ended up being the board. I upgraded to the V2 board from Northland Marine and got the copilot from eBay. Only plus side was I got a really good deal on the trolling motor initially. Good luck.

I never had a foot controlled motor till i bought the 50# Power Drive for a new 14’ Jon.
The foot thing was causing issues for my poor coordination, so i started using my hand instead with the control sitting next to me.
When im finished i wrap the cord around the control and stash it in an open but dry place.
So far ive not had the issues ive read about but it is not much over a year since ive had it either.
But the $499 sale price i got it from Cabelas for sold me on it.
