The battery group will not make any difference other than a group 29 will run a tm a long time compared to the group 24,I would check the fuses or breaker.
Sooo, I swapped out my trolling motor battery last week, went out yesterday (didn't check it before I left) and found out my trolling motor wasn't working. The new battery is larger than the the one replaced it with. The new battery is a 29 deep cycle and the old one was a 24 starting battery. Any ideas what would cause this? Appreciate any ideas or help.
Thanks
B

first check what you changed. are the cables tight? is the battery good - showing 12v + at the battery? then move upstream - fuses or breaker as noted. i had my boat apart earlier this year and didnt get the starting cables tight, so it wouldnt start. tightened cabled bam started right up.
I checked all the connections and bypassed the breaker with no luck.

I assume your new battery had a full charge on it correct ? If so take a meter and see if your getting voltage at the trolling motor. If not...check for bad fuse....and all connections.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Well, I don't know what happened but I went out to work on the trolling motor two days ago and it was working. I appreciate the suggestions, don't know why it started working again.
