    Default Power trim issues

2010 Yamaha 115 hp 4 stroke. How do I check my power trim on this motor? It has been working fine but suddenly quit working. I get no noise from the switch. Is there a fuse on the motor that I can check?
    thanks!

Had this happen to me once or twice. Find the JUNCTION BOX, mine is on the boat wall near my cracking battery, remove the cover and check all of the terminals. Might have a loose connection. I also put terminal grease/protection over the post. Good luck.

If the wiring & connections are all good, it could be that your relays have died.

I had to replace one of the relays on a friends motor couple years ago. They are made in one piece and has a sliding contractor inside. When activated it slides leafy or right depending on direction. Should be mounted on very front of engine down low almost where you would think a carb would be. I have also had to replace brushes on a couple of Yamaha trim motors. They seem to be bad about carbon from brushes gumming up the holders and not letting them touch properly. You might try this, get a soft handled large screw driver and lightly tap around on motor housing while activating switch sometimes that little vibration will shake them loose if that’s what it is. But like said before first thing is check power and if not mistaken there is a fuse in a harness on left side of motor that is for trim.

Pull cowling off motor, see if your motor has the 3 solenoid in line(vertical) if so , bottom solenoid is starter, middle 1 has green big wire which is ground (
meaning down) top 1 has blue big blue wire ( which is sky , meaning up) if your motor has this set up. The green ( middle solenoid ) has a small green wire with a bullet connector. That wire is signal wire from trim switch from helm (remote control) same as small blue wire bullet conn. For up. Disconnect the 2 small wires and take a test light , have someone in boat press up or down on trim switch and see if u get voltage ( best to use volt meter) if u get 12 volts 2 both small ground (green) an sky (up) then switch is good on the boat side. After u do this and everything is good on boat side. Then take 10mm socket and remove big green an big blue wires from solenoid, then take jumper wires from neg. an pos. And connect to the big wires, doesn't matter witch way , if green is on pos. And blue on ground of battery . if motor is ok it should move down. If it sparkes real bad than its the motor shorted to ground(negative) if it moves up and down by swapping the 2 big blue/green wire from neg.to pos. Then solenoid are bad. About $98.00 each

Also, all 3 solenoid use 1 common ground . which is a bolt behind solenoid that goes into starter. That needs to be checked.

Put the meter to it and find where the voltage stops.
