With an average load how many RPMs are you turning at WOT?
I recently acquired this boat and it has a Solas 13 1/2 x 15 prop on it. The compression is running around 100 on all cylinders and fuel system seems good. I’ve only been able to get it to 50ish with myself and about half a tank and about 42 with my daughter full throttle. Is it the prop or should I be looking somewhere else. Mariner 150 2 stroke.

Well, its hard to say. I don't know if the gauge is operating right. The needle pegs out and kinda jumps all over the place. Still trying to figure it out. I'm not sure if the gauge is good and the prop is over revving or vice versa.
Is your charging system working? A shorted or open diode in the rectifier can cause tach problems.

Seems to be working just fine. I haven't (and don't know if I know how to diagnose it) seen a drop in voltage after running a bit. As a matter of fact I think I've sen an increase at 13 plus volts according to the chartplotter. I just thought I should be seeing better performance from the motor and boat combo. The boat is only 17' 10", dry as a bone when I leave the lake so I don't think the hull is holding water. I've seen other set ups on BBC at upper 50's to low 60's. Just wondered what if the prop is pitched right. Do you happen to know what 1990 150HP Mariner was pitched originally?
