Yeah it looks like you could weld a piece of flat steel on its edge but sticking up between the two fins of the latch, then drill a hole through all 3 parts for your padlock.Originally Posted by artcarney_agr

Not to hijack the thread but I once saw a jetski trailer (loaded) tied to the 3/16" trunk latch on a car with the safety chains. I made sure to get WAY in front after I spied them at a stop light.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I bought mine at Walmart ... back in the fishing/boating dept. (<$10) but I'd say most any place that carries much in the way of hitches & such would have a few on hand.

Just throwing this out there. How many times have u or people you've heard of that has lost a trailer because of tongue failures and not the wrong size ball ??

I had same concerns when I got my champion as it has the same hitch as yours so instead of drilling any holes I went and got these SPECIAL ZIP STRIPS THAT HAVE A RELEASE LEVER, put two of then together and tighten around the entire tongue and latch assemble after boat is connected to hitch and ready to tow . then all you have to do is remove zip strip after you get boat launched and you want to store trailer then when your ready to tow again just hook up the trailer reattach the zip strips put boat on and go .
