May I suggest "Bofum". (Borrowed that term from an old buddy of mine).

My opinion......i would just use a plug and keep a couple extras on the boat. Too much can go wrong with check valves and self bailing rigs etc.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Years back I met a guy that had rubber duck bill things in his drains, and liked the idea. Saw him at a ramp about a year later and he didn’t have them any more. When I asked about it he said that one got bumped and broke enough that he almost lost the boat. I took a lesson from that. And the lever plugs, interior only. Something gonna bump one and make you say bad words.

Problem is you have a chance from either side. I used that type of check valve in fuel systems on big trucks for years. You would be surprised how small a piece of debris can hold it open. I’m not saying it would pour in to the point of worrying about sinking but could have seepage to the point of having water in bilge all the time. Another thing you need to consider, how easy or how little pressure does it take to release the water out of bilge. If you can’t pour water through it against sprin pressure the it’s not going to drain properly. I’m like G, get right plug and a couple extras is safest way.
