Thread: Drain plug

Not a good thing leaving drain plug out. Lost my brother in law because of that very reason. 39 years ago this month.

I would think any Triton dealer could sell you one or tell you size over the phone if not close by. We've all done it, more than once in my case.

I keep three of them in the boat. The primary one rides in the splash well, the other two in separate storage boxes. Figure a little redundancy is a good thing.

I keep a spare on a carbiner clip at the outboard. I have several boo-boos with drain plugs.

Mine dont take the standard rubber one. It is threaded. And I don't know the size or thread count and pitch. My other boat actually had two drain holes that took the stopper kind. I kept several for that reason. The boat now has a threaded plug with a keeper and figured no way to lose this one.

I don't know exactly what you have drain plug wise, but I have a Triton too... but my plug is the rubber type with the brass looking tightening t-handle. The rubber looks like it is threaded, but it is not. All you do is loosen the t-handle to put it in and then tighten it and the tightening action actually causes the plug to expand inside of the drain hole until it is tight... sealing the rubber in the drain hole and preventing it from leaking or from coming out. Unless there's something I'm just not seeing... I would certainly think one of these type drain plugs would work for you too.

get a remote drain plug and never worry about it again.
