    Default 2nd 2-bank charger

My boat is a 19' Xpress

I have had a ProMariner 2 bank charger for several years, still works great. I was able to use it on 3 batteries (one lead was ran to 2 batteries ran parallel for trolling motor and the other lead to the start battery).

I have added a 4th designated electronics battery and I am going to buy another ProMariner 2 bank charger due to the extra battery now. Hook original charger to the two trolling batteries and the new one to the starter and electronics batteries.

Question: Extension cord plug to original charger is mounted in bow wall by trolling motor. Can I add a length of wire and extend the power supply cable on the new charger mounted in the rear of the boat for rear two batteries and tie in to that same plug? Just trying to avoid another hole in boat for a 2nd plug.

    Thanks

"Cast your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Maybe we are just on the wrong side sometimes.....

I am replying not knowing what I am talking about. The answer is yes if you have proper ga wire tying the chargers together and you have the proper ga wire supplying house outlet along with proper amp rated breaker and the proper ga extension cord for the supply to the boat. But if you have a pair of dual bank chargers that's pulling 10 amps to each set of leads and everything else is run of the mill common household stuff(I got a funny feeling that's the case) something is going to get hot and fail. This advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.... nothing. IMO you need two seperate dedicated lines or a designated 4 bank charger.

10 amp chargers are the 12v output, not the load on the 120v circuit. The two combined will only be a couple amps, you dont have any worries there.
Wire gauge does matter, just dont use any smaller wire than what the chargers have already, a little bigger is ok.
I like the triple tap extension cord adapters, good for this situation and might be able to avoid any custom mods.

A small gel cel battery with a small charger of its own might be all you need for the eletronics.
That way you could leave your present setup as it is.

I would probably just buy a 3 bank charger, and run the electronics batteries in parallel for simplicity. Would save some space too. Shouldn't have any trouble selling your old charger on the trading post here.

If I was going to do it the way you mentioned, I would probably extend the cord on the second charger to where it reaches the other, and then use one of those 3-1 splitters.

Could get really fancy and run conduit between two junction boxes and receptacles next to each charger, with a single male cord tapped into one outlet serving as power input.
