My new boat didn’t have an hours meter on it either and I did the same thing. So far so good. It’s nice that it reads the actual hours from the engine and doesn’t use its own clock. Super easy to install too!
I took my boat in for first service at 20 hrs. Boy did I miss my guess on 20 hr Mark! I only had 10.7hrs.
So I added the vessel view mobile to get hours as well as maintenance intervals and fault codes.
Very simple install and seems to work very well, at least in the driveway.
More to come after I can get it on the water tomorrow. If it warms up a little.

2 hours in the books with my vessel view and still very happy.
I like seeing accurate speed, hours, volts while I’m running. Think my next step would be to get water pressure sensor added for a little extra piece of mind.
