    Default fuel line


    what size is the fuel line that runs between the carburetors on a 60 hp Mercury ? carbs are WME 40s i believe. i thiught it was 1/4 inch ID but all i can find is too big OD.

    Don’t know the size but last time I took a piece to a Carquest auto parts store and they had clear fuel line the right size or try a lawnmower shop.

    If ordering, and in doubt, do like cray said. Take the line to a small engine shop. They typically have many different sizes, both id and od combinations.

    I'm betting it is metric sized. I faced the same issue when replacing a line on my little Yanmar tractor. Fortunately, I was able to use hose clamps and make SAE-sized fuel line work.

    I agree with the possible metric size, best to take the line with you.

    Look at this site: It mentions the case where 1/4 is too big and 3/16 is too small - the true size for that case is 5.5mm. Not a bad price for what they are selling:

    On my old 'Rude I used weed eater fuel line worked perfect
