I strictly use the Evinrude oil in my Evinrude oil injected motor. I spend more for the oil because I know how much I have invested in the motor. In my older motor that is 2 cycle mixed I use the cheapest marine oil I can find
Does anyone have an opinion or know anything about the Bass Pro 2 cycle oil? Saw it in the sale paper for 12 or 13 bucks a gallon. That’s a lot cheaper than the Quicksilver or Yamalube but don’t want to cause an issue by trying to save a few dollars. Thanks

I've always heard that if your motor is still under warranty, use the recommended brand for that motor (usually THEIR brand). But, once the warranty is gone, use whatever brand that's still TC-W3 rated. (2 stroke outboard oil)
X3 , how old ?
It’s an 05 model so no warranty. But I don’t want to save a few bucks on oil and pay it and more out in tepair bills

I had an Evinrude 150 was to tight to buy good 2 cycle oil and stuck the rings and blew the motor, never again I will use only a full synthetic. My Optimax has gotten only Amsoil HP or Amsoil Interceptor since 2000 when it was new.
I use the quick silver synthetic blend. Good oil is cheap compared to cheap oil and engine issues in my opinion. My motor is rated for TCW II or III, and I’ve ran the same oil since I did the break in in 2009.
I use what the manufacturer recommends. Yes it is their brand but other than the obvious reason for recommending it I just don’t take chances and follow the manufacturers guidelines.

TCW-3 is a high bar for two stroke oils, and be sure any two stroke oil you use has that designation.
If the BPS Oil has it, go for it.
What does tcw3 mean? It stands for two cycle water cooled and the number 3 is the most recent blend with newer additives
The TC-W3 oil is the same oil in all. None of the oil sellers manufacture and refine the oil. They all purchase the oil from refiners and add additives. They also purchase different containers and put their own labels on the oil.
