Ahhh....Charlie could be on to something....I didnt think about possibility of freezing.

Covered enclosed storage but not heated. Yeah it did get cold enough here.

Those guages if I remember right are diaphragm type...so if water was in the line close to guage and it froze and put enough pressure on the diaphragm....it could have damaged the internals in the guage.

Alright I'll remove and inspect and most likely have to replace gauge.

Maybe Cray or Barnacle Bill will chime in ....I don't remember if that gauge has a water line connected directly to the back of the gauge or if the gauge is electric and has pressure sending unit mounted on the engine block that send signal to the gauge electrically.

Please elaborate all , I work on boats. When did water pressure gauges , become mandatory ?. Inboard yes , for someone who wants to know.

They are not mandatory, but they started coming into play back in early 80’s when jack plates became a thing on high performance bass boats. Guys were setting them up to high and burning them up because of losing water pressure. Then came low water pickups installed lower and blocking off standard water pick up. Then as time progressed more of the high end boat manufactures start installing them in their standard gauge package. In the last few years more and more people have started installing the on their own if boat didn’t come with one.
