Used motor prices vary a lot with the area of the country you are in. Best thing to do is some searching to see what they are going for in your area. You can also check with Nada. Outboard Motors Manufacturers, Used Outboard Motors Values, Outboard Motors Prices & Specs | NADAguides

Thanks Bill. I am a little surprised that it is as low as it is. The guy is asking about twice what NADA says the high retail price should be. Maybe that's the norm. The problem is that folks would think you are severely low balling them if you offer what NADA says it's worth. Should be an interesting negotiation.

Might seem steep for your area, but not out of line for around here. Craig’s list and Facebook market place that’s about average for a clean later model 25. High to me cause I think that motor at that time went for around 2300. New.

You are right about original retail price, however, after much research this evening, I can see that many folks are asking about that figure for similar motors. Of coarse, something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay. I will probably make an offer, but for several hundred less. Who knows, he might say come get it!

if it was a 2001 25hp short shaft mercury then the price is not too bad , but its steep for a long shaft 25hp IMO !!!

I would have thought just the opposite. Why the difference? It is a long shaft motor.
