Piece of treated 2X12 makes a nice "elevator." Been using one for over 10 years. Finally got around to painting it same color as the boat.

My wife's uncle bought a similar year Mercury 25 as a project. I helped him on it but I was shocked at how much some of the fuel related parts cost. A Carb kit was close to $100 and I couldn't find the parts in the kit on an individual basis. The fuel pump rebuild kit was ridiculous as well. I think he gave up on that motor and parted it out since the lower was toast from the get go.

To your price question I agree that 1500 seems like the going rate on these around here. JMO, but I would get a 25hp Johnson/Evinrude of a similar year as they can be found for a few hundred cheaper and parts are readily available.

I have a 01 25 Mercury and guy at the ramp here offered me $1800 so $1500 is not steep
