I posted a while back about my motor surging at higher rpms. I thought it was going to be a voltage issue but that’s not the case. I’ve ruled out the fuel filter. I’m thinking I may next replace the fuel pump it looks to be a pretty easy job. If that doesn’t do it I’m just gonna have to find a mechanic. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Where I live I’m there’s not many options for a marine mechanic.

2 or 4 Stroke? Have you tried running Seafoam through it? Plugs? Under proped? What octane gas?

Without serial number this is what I found and should be close to what you have on your motor. Shows additional filter most don’t know is there. Also need to check float for proper operation.

I keep seafoam in the tank all the time. It’s a 4 stroke, i just buy non-ethanol gas, and its had the same prop for 7 years i bought the boat new. I’m no mechanic but the way it runs its behaving like there’s a disruption in the fuel flow. It only does it at rpm greater than about 3500. It’s idols and cranks perfectly.

Describe this surge.....is it just the rpm's dropping some and then picking back up ? Or does it sputter and studder?
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

cranks, idle , run without missing up to 3500 rpm ? coils . Bgrubbs had these similar issues . His was multiple coils . I know little about things like this but I fished with him and could not see how a motor could be that smooth and have problems at higher rpm .

Check fuel line for flaking on the inside, had this happen to my Optimax.

I thought of that but if it were coils i would think it would be missing and not just loosing rpm. Did his miss when it acted up

Check your spark plugs many times a plug will fire fine when not under a hard load, had this happen in a Verado ran perfect until it was under a heavy load.
