    Default Tire pressure?

Hello all. I will be towing my boat 800 miles (1600 round trip). My trailer says tires should be inflated to 35 psi, but everything I’ve read says to inflate to max psi. What psi is correct? Thank You

I keep mine at max psi according to the psi listed on the tire. Just keep an eye on the tread wear and adjust accordingly.

The placard on the trailer is only relevant to the tires that it left the factory with. If they've been replaced, all bets are off. Same goes for vehicles.

The max PSI rating on the sidewall is also at maximum load. It's a safe bet but you should keep an eye on them, if lightly loaded they may wear more in the center.

Some guys put the max in,some guys inflate to the load (lbs)being carried per tire. What ever brand of tire your using the tire company probably has inflation specs for that tire and loads. My tires say 65lbs max but by Goodyears charts 50lbs is about right by the load being carried per tire.

That tag on the trailer was likely printed by the trailer manufacturer. The printing on the tire was printed on there by the tire Mfg. I'd listen to the tire manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply’s. They are the factory tires. Jet star is the brand but I can’t find any info on them. They say max 51 psi.

50lbs is best for most boat trailer tires. Be sure and check your bearings!
