    Default Carb rebuild

I'm going to rebuild carbs on a 88 115 mariner that has 3 carbs. They are not in real bad shape varnish wise , would I be better off to dip them if so what should I use? They have a couple of plastic parts that in them that I don't think I can remove.
    thanks

Now I am not a mechanic and did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I would not dip plastic parts. I would get some carb cleaner and spray it down good and use compressed air to blow out all the passages. I have rebuilt alot of outboard carbs over the years and never dipped them.

I know that O'Reilly auto parts sells carb cleaner in a gallon can. NAPA probably also carries it

To my knowledge, '87 was the last year of production for the in-line 6 cylinder, 3 carb 115hp. '88 began the new design 115hp, 4 cylinder / 4 carb design. (I was working at a Mariner dealership during those years.) It's really not of any importance except when ordering parts. If you are searching carb kit's by year model and not serial number, use '87 so that you will receive the correct kits.
    I'd rather be fishing.

This past spring, I cleaned all 3 on an '87 Mariner 115hp. I bought the kits from a local dealer.
Carb cleaner (cans) and compressed air, as mentioned before.
