Thread: Aluminum hull screw holes below water line

How many you got? If it's where a transducer was mounted, I'd use 5200 sealant and put the screw back in.

There are 2. I don’t like how the marina mounted them to my Tracker. I was thinking of prepping and filling with JB Weld marine, shaping and sanding it then mounting a Stern Saver and remounting the transducer. The reason I am considering this is because it has come loose once and I had to re-Mount it with a larger screw. I may call Tracker to see what they recommend.

Here is what I do and recommend. Take a small ball peen hammer if you have one or something similar. Put the rounded head in the screw hole and tap it until you create a slight dimple. Sand and clean real good. Mix JB weld and work some into the hole until some actually penetrates the hole. Let it sit. Then sand again and put another thin layer over that. Then sand again and expand the area a little and apply another coat. Sand smooth then you can install you mounting plate over it with 5200.

Transom saver is supposed to be mounted to the trailer....not the boat.

Yeah I found stern saver after searching the web and watching some videos. I like Charlie’s idea as well, I figured he would give me an idea. I can see where I caused confusion with the product name.
