Default Need an Aluminum welder near St Louis

Hey everyone, looking for a welder near St Louis that will weld on a boat. I have a crack on the bow deck where the trolling motor bolts on. I have contacted Lowe but doubt they will do anything so I am looking for other options

There is a professional welder down here in Alabama that says to ask at tire shops who fixes Aluminum rims. He told me they are TIG welded and those guys can weld your boat. I asked here and found a guy that way!

Looks like you need a new trolling motor also.

My first thought is to use aluminum diamond plate and pretty much cover the whole bow.

I’m the guy that rcliffimgham mentioned above. That doesn’t need to be “just” welded. It needs a larger piece out below it or above it and welded to it, not just around the edge. The two pieces need to be plug welded together. Is you’re boat a Lowe?

It definitely needs some reinforcement. How did it happen?

The boat is a 2025 Lowe Stinger. My opinion is the issue comes from that surface not being flat. The “deck” slopes off the last few inches and the TM mounting surface is flat and stronger. Under the outer aluminum there is a 1/4 inch triangle of aluminum plate welded to the underside of that area for reinforcement. That material being stiffer than the outer hull simply pulled thru essentially tearing the aluminum. I have a TH Marine TM Stabilizer so it wasn’t caused by the TM bouncing on the water or Highway.
TM is an Ulterra 112 36v.
Talked to Lowe today and the said take it to a dealer and they will do what is needed to see if it is under warranty. Anyone seen this before? Might help to call BS in case they say nobody has ever seen it before.
    Appreciate the input.

Marine4life, the reason I asked if it was a Lowe is I'm almost 100% positive I've seen that same type picture posted on here before. IIRC, Cowboy215 on the Alabama forum had a spot that looked very similar to that on his Lowe Stinger.
