Best thing to do is to stop fuel to engine, let it run out of fuel ( use non- ethanol fuel) if 4 cycle, VST chamber needs to be drained. I'm replacing 1 rite now at shop 2014
Merc 40 hp high pressure pump , my cost $518.00
Water separator filters are important in this day and age. The ones with a clear bottom and a drain are the best in my opinion. Which ever you go with be sure it is rated at 10 microns or less. No sense in having a filter if its going to let grains of sand thru.

Because of customer not running out fuel in the motor
Have y'all put non-ethanol. And ethanol gas in a pint jar ( when humidity is high) and run a fan over pint jars?
Your Optimax has a fuel filter and water separator with an alarm if it gets water in the system. I have a 2000 Optimax running 10% ethanol and never had fuel related issue except having to replace the fuel lines to the newer type designated for ethanol. I do run Seafoam at all times.

Can you elaborate on that I got confused. When and why should I let it run out of fuel?Sent from my E6810 using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

I've replaced (4 stroke) so many vst high pressure pumps (outboards) this year , I've lost count after 20. Because ethanol gas sat in vst for 4-6 months
