It sure would be hard to go from a 150 hp down to a 115 hp.........I don't know what kind of waters you fish, but for me on KY and Barkley the added horsepower isn't for speed but for having the needed "umph" for tackling rough water/waves that are so common there. If you're just running flat water all the time then the 115 hp might be ok.

No way the 115 will keep up with the 150.
I advise looking into repair of the 150, 9,500 is a lot of cabbage ya know...

While the 115 4 stroke would be nice (quiet, fuel efficient, etc.), it won't compare to the power of the 2 stroke 150 in any part of the power band whatsoever. Personally, I think you'll be disappointed if you make that swap if you're used to the 150. Just my two cents.

I’m in a similar situation. I have a 90 Yamaha 2 stroke now that loves gas. I’d like to get a 4 stroke but a 90 4 stroke is a step down in performance. I’d really need to get a 115 and my transom won’t handle that. I can buy a lot of gas for the money it will cost to swap.

That is a good point.. I usually don't run that far in the boat. There are a lot of launches around here. You can get pretty close trailering.

I have a 115 merc. 4 stroke on a 17 ft Lund w/a full windshield. I can get around 35 mph with 2 guys , wide open. Which I do not run very often. With your bigger boat I don't think you would be happy going down in HP. Also not real happy with the gas usage when running place to place. Fine when trolling.
If I was buying new I would buy Yamaha, have a 8 hp kicker and love it. I kind of use the 50% rule, If you get close to that in the value of your used motor with the repairs, it's not worth the money.
    Good Luck

I don’t know if you have run one of the newer models but I have run G’ Sea arc 18 with a 90 four stroke and a friends 18 express with a 90 2 stroke and in my opinion the 4 performed as well or better than the 2 stroke and the sea arc is a much heavier boat.

I haven’t but I looked real hard at the Suzuki 90. I have a 1860 Pro Weld. I can run 37 with two now. I’d hate to loose any speed. At that speed I’m getting 1-2 mpg though. I usually stay around 25-30 mph.

If going with 4 stroke imo Suzuki . replaced a motor. On a toon last month toon had 2012 Yamaha 70 it slung a rod through case. Replaced with a Suzuki 70 new in create , with everything , boat side harness remote control ,ignition switch and diagnostic gauge for helm (dash).
Trim motor the hole 9 yards $ 9800.00 our cost. Came with 6 yr. unlimited warranty.

What kept me from repowering was the weight. My 150-2stroke was #400, while the 4stroke was 480. Everything in that boat was in the back, fuel, batteries, live well, two fat guys. I didn’t want another 80lbs back there too. Saw an 18’ Skeeter similar in age to mine that had done the 4stroke change. At rest, no one on board, the nose of the boat sat noticeably higher, my guess was at least 4 maybe 6”. I spoke with the owner a minute and he said that he hadn’t considered that when he swapped. Liked it other than that. My concern with the backend low and heavy would be in following seas, that could be ugly
