    Question Talons vs Power Poles

Trying to decide which one to buy. Will be putting on a 2019 Tracker 175. I do more crappie fishing than bass. Would prefer response from someone who has either. (Pros & Cons please)

I don't have either one, but I do know when I was considering them for a bass boat I was more in favor of the Talon due to simplicity and not having to figure out how to put the hydraulic pumps inside the bilge area. The Talon is a self-contained unit that you can take on and off much easier than the Power-Pole.

Power-Pole hit the market fist, then Minn Kota refined the idea.

I have one micro power pole on my 2013 175tf and it works great. It’s lighter and cheaper than the other ones, sure it has it’s drawbacks but if you have two of the other ones along with 75hp motor and three batteries the water line is a lot lower in the back then add two plus adults!!

I don’t know where you are located
    But I have a 12’ talon, it’s a 2015 model,
Came off a ranger boat, I bought it late 2016 for $1000, I never put it on my boat do to it was in storage while I was selling and building a new house, for the last yr &1/2 I’ve moved it all over my garage, last wk I cleaned it up took couple videos to show it works,
Has both remotes plus all hardware as it did when new, plus cover, and quick release handles/bolts not sure what they are called, I bought the tilt bracket around $200 for it
I’d like to get $1000 for all

I had a single 12 ft talon on my stick steer War Eagle and the problem of only having 1 is the front of the boat will always swing down wind and if the wind is swirling then u get constant movement. I got mad enuff that I sold the 1-12 ft and bought 2 of the 15 footers and love them. I was fishing last winter and the wind got up to almost whitecapping and I called my wife to tell her I was fishing longer than normal and she says why ? it's windy as hell outside, I said I'm fishing because I can. The boat never moved and the wind was easy 20mph.

I have two 12ft Talons with the tilt brackets on my 24 ft Bay Boat, I really like them . I started with the powerpoles but couldn't find a place for the pumps also couldn't find anyone around that wanted to mount them for me.
They also are paired with the Ipilot link and the Humminbird Helix. I am glad I went with the Talons.

Only advantage to power pole in my opinion is the drift paddles. If you do a lot of trolling it’s a lot easier to push a button and control your speed

Deploying the Talons in deep water while trolling or drifting will slow the boat also, although not as much as the paddles.
the paddles are the reason I strongly considered the Power poles in the beginning too. I am so glad i went with the Talons over the Power poles.

Just consider weight on your 175, if have 75hp,three batteries, full of fuel and two plus adults your water line in the back is going to be lower. That along with the cost I’m using the micro power pole ( one for now as I’m retired married and want to stay that way)and it works great for me.

Cons, with powerpole it has a electronic solenoid module for it to work with remote. If used alot solenoid module goes bad every 12-16 months. Power pole will give u the first one for free ( what I was told). They are like $200.00 plus.
What I do is throw remote control module and remote in the lake along with remote controlled solenoid module.
Mount a 3 post reversing boat winch solenoid and wire to switch at helm and can wire a switch and mount at bow next to aerator and trim switch.
