My daddy always said that a wooden boat is a hole in the water into which you throw money.

I fished out of a 10’ skiff for many years. The spring routine of scraping and repainting the bottom was a chore. But it had to be done as I used it in salt water.

Seems all boats are a hope in the water the throw money into. I have fished out a plywood boat in years past. I have been watching a series on YouTube were a boat builder is building a 17 foot work skiff. Looks like it would make a fine crappie boat

Heavy at conception and gets heavier thru the years. I used to fish out of one years ago. My Dad left it locked to a tree at the boat ramp during spawn. We would bail the water out of it and put the 7hp seahorse on it. We would ride upwind and then skull down wind We did ok with it.

Haven't fished from a wooden boat for nigh on 55yrs or so. But, the first boat I ever fished out of was a flat bottom wood row boat (3 seater) ... rental boat at a local lake. 10HP Johnson to get us there, and a skulling paddle for me to use to ease the boat around with.

If I remember correctly... people stopped fishing from wooden boats when beavers invaded the U.S. from Canada. I could be wrong though Wooden boats

We kept one at my Dad's for years, tied to a tree by the boathouse. Had to pull it up from the bottom (Sunk) a few times. We mostly used it for night time frog gigging. Never had a motor on it, we used an old "Feather Brand" paddle, and referred to the propulsion as "Dunking The Big Indian", as there was a Chief on the business end of the paddle. It was more quiet on the inside, and fairly stable as a semi vee.
