    Default motor

brought 15 hp 1986 evinrude to NY for the summer and has not been used for 2 years. Finally got it started but could not keep it running. Took it to shop. Gas is good, fairly fresh. Use this tank on 15 and 25 hp so I know the lines are good. Might be diaphram or dirty carbs. Can't advance throttle unless you put in gear and it was hard to keep it running long enough to do by myself. Did finally get it to idle but had to keep choking. Ideas?

Go through the carbs is where I would start.

I agree. They need to be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned.

With a motor like that, the first thing you want to do is rebuild the carb. Do it yourself, or pull it off and take it to your local mechanic. Rebuild kit is like maybe $10, or if you have your mechanic do it he might charge about $50 for the kit and his labor. Pretty simple thing to do.
