    Default Safety switch on throttle

We have a 90’s model 50 Johnson. My dad is having trouble with the throttle not letting him crank the motor. It’s the lever kind that you push the button underneath and push forward for forward and pull back for reverse. Where is that safety switch located?

Just took a wild guess on year of motor but this should get you started. Don’t see a neutral safety switch per say but appears I has to be in right position for it to work. 32 and 40 are your start switch and where they connect. If this doesn’t look right post the model and serial number and I’ll do some more research..

It sounds like you are describing a control box. If the boat has a steering wheel, the neutral safety switch you are looking for is in the control box.
    I'd rather be fishing.

I appreciate the comments. The problem was the battery not the control box.
