    Default NY ready

Getting things in order to head for NY for the summer. Switched from 8 inch to 12 inch tires, which ended up going to the local shop twice, once to have tires mounted and the to replace one bearing. Had moved the boat back further to lighten up tonque weight and thought everything was good to go. The ground wire was 6 inches to short. Cut and spliced temporary line in just to get home. Will replace all the wires sometime this summer.

Don't lighten the tongue weight TOO MUCH, or you're trailer could "fishtail" on you. Generally, around 10% of the gross weight being towed should be the "tongue weight" ... so if your rig weighs 2000lbs (boat/motor/trailer) then the tongue weight should be around 200lbs.

If nothing else, you can use a bathroom scale at the hitch to check how much weight you have up there.
If you plan to redo your trailer wires, you might want to consider upgrading your trailer lights to Truck Lite LED's. I got mine online, the price was not too bad. Good, sealed water tight connections are key. Heck, I went ahead and replaced all the wiring including pigtail and only had to splice near the lights. Much mo betta now!
