    Default Grease on rims

I have noticed that my trailer rims have quite a bit of grease on them. Is this a failure of my bearings or excessive grease?

I would think your grease seal is leaking and needs replacing..

Is it on outside or inside of rim and do you have bearing buddies?

It's getting out from somewhere. Better get it checked or repack yourself pretty soon.

It’s mainly on the outside, and I believe it has the bearing buddies. They have a rubber cap that you take off the center to get to the fitting.

I have found that in most case with the bearing buddies and I have the type that has the grease zero in the end of axle with a rubber cap covering it. You will have a slight bit of residue that is slung out around those caps as the grease warms up. That I turn picks up road dirt or minute particles that sticks to that film. Makes it look a whole lot worse than it really is. I suggest you use some brake clean or starting fluid, just clean off real good and keep an eye on it. I wold though just in case jack wheels up and make sure yo don’t have a loose bearing. But I’m pretty sure what your describing is just road film build up from maybe just a little over-greasing or just a little excess. By the way, my chrome wheels are almost black from it because I been to lazy to wash them.
