    You are correct there. I had a novice welder try to weld up a small hole in a aluminum boat once and he made the small hole three times larger. I made him quit and took it to a qualified aluminum welder. It costs more to do it right but in the end, well worth the price..

    One other thing is why is the hole there. Is is from hitting something or is it worn thin or maybe from corrosion. If it is thin then a patch maybe needed, either riveted or welded.
