Try this. Run it up from bottom with motor when it stops going up, cycle the button a couple of times you should hear a noise. Then manually lift to top lock in place. Remove plug and top off insert plug then try running it down. If it won’t go all the way down lower with bleed screw close then raise again as far as it will go with motor. Then cycle button down and up a couple more times then try raising as far as it will go with motor. If not to the top loosen bypas raise to top lock remove plug bleed and fill. Repeat this process. When you top off fluid and insert plug use the motor to try to raise off lock if it does come up then cycle it to the up position a couple of times for about 15 seconds. Let rest a couple of minutes to cool motor undo lock then try cycling down again.

Thanks .... I'll give those a try later this week.

And just out of curiosity : My mechanic said the release screw should only be turned open 1.5 turns. Does it have to be ONLY that much, or could it hurt to maybe turn it 2 complete turns ?? Do you know how many turns it takes before it won't hold under pressure (and blow out like it did before) ?? I'm just curious because it's a booger bear to lift, so any more pressure release would really help (less back strain & less bruising on these old feeble arms). Or does it really make that much difference in the ease of lifting the motor up manually ??

    Exclamation UPDATE ....

Well, I tried all the options given to me, and they just didn't seem to be getting the job done. Called another mechanic and told him the situation and he was worried that some parts (ball & spring) may have been blown out along with the release screw, and asked for the serial number of the unit to check his parts books. I looked it up, myself, just so I'd have an idea of what he was talking about when he got back to me.

Long story short : when looking online I noticed the serial number mentioned in some websites, so I read thru them to see if their problem was same/similar. Found one with exact same unit/serial number & he fixed his problem by:

manually lifting motor up & on the supports
    closing the release screw

ran UP switch for about 5 seconds
opened the fill cap & refilled fluid
repeated the process several times until UP switch lifted motor off the supports
cycled the UP/DOWN switch several times to insure motor was tilting/trimming

I followed those same procedures and now MY T/T IS WORKING FINE !!

Just thought I'd share this so anyone else having similar problems can give this "simple/easy" trick a try FIRST !!
