Default Water Pressure Gauge vs Temp Gauge vs Buzzer

I have an 84 Merc 60 with no form of overheat alarm, aside from the tell tale.

I would like to have something, just not sure which is the best option.

I could rig up a buzzer or light with a pressure switch, that would probably be the cheapest. Otherwise a temp gauge and water pressure gauge are pretty close to the same price.

Any advantages to one or the other?

I run a temp and water pressure gauge. Probably over kill but I want to know if my motor is getting hot before it damages motor.

A water pressure gauge will give real time feedback of the cooling system and alert the operator of a problem before an overheat condition occurs. A buzzer or light will alert the operator after the fact.

Yes water pressure and temp is real time....but you gota pay attention to...(A buzzer will get your attention ...A light will alert you if your looking and paying attention...) these latter 2 can be had with diff set points so they will all at temp you prefer.

MURPHY gauges make gauges with adjustable set points for alarm and or shutdown....Good stuff but pricey
