Default Minn Kota 45 edge only three speeds work

I have 2 Minn Kota trolling motors and both have only 3 speeds that work. Speed 1 does not work, speed 2 go 1600 rpm, speed 3 does not work, speed 4 goes 1400 rpm, and speed 5 goes 1900 rpm. Bought a new speed switch for floor control and did not help, still same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I got a brand new Minn Kota 45 Edge that speed 2 and speed 3 were reversed. Finally found that yellow and white wires on the five speed switch were reversed. Came from the factory that way. Not exactly the problem you have but maybe a place to start looking. Hope it's a simple fix!

Time consuming but, find high speed wire on switch, remove it, then take each wire one at a time and plug onto that connection. Turn switch to high, if motor runs you have switch problem, if not then you had to go farther up the line. Remove the head cover and check for wiring connections up there. I have found they use a lot of these spade type connectors in trolling motor wiring. If they get slightly loose it causes resistance which creates hat and it will burn connector or wiring right at connector.

Follow Cray's advice, but likely you have a speed coil issue and will need to go inside the motor housing.
