    Default Lower unit oil replacement

I just drained the oil from the lower unit, and am going to get some more from Walmart. What kind do I need to get?

Any quality 90 weight gear oil will work. I use Lucas 90 weight gear oil. I had to order a pump from Crowley Marine, ($10 for my Yamaha).
remove bottom plug first, then the top, let the oil drain for an hour or so, thread the pump fitting into the bottom, pump until the oil starts
to run out the top, install the top plug then the bottom. done.....

The older electric shift motors require a special lube. Type C I think.

I use the Walmart "Tech" brand, cost half as much, so I change it twice as often. Ha.
Oh well, it gives me a chance to check up on things back there.

I have always used Quicksilver oils. You can use the tube but the quart bottle with the pump is best...

You can use any marine gear lube. Marine is preferable because it has additives that better handle water contamination.

I use Lucas, 10 bucks a quart, can get two or three changes out of a bottle.
