Default best way to run wire and cable in my boat

I got a new unit for Christmas and am installing it and was wondering if anyone had any pointers about running the transducer cable .I have a 17.5 ft boat , not wanting to drill any more holes than I have to. Wanting to mount it at console, what is the best way to get the transducer cable to the back of the boat without drilling lots of holes

Do you know any electricians? Most of them have a fish tape for pulling new wires in. Whenever I have to pull new wires in I always pull a piece of strong cord in with them and then just secure it at both ends. That way a couple years down the road when they come out with something new that you can't live without you can use that cord to pull new wires in and another cord. They never stop inventing.

That is a good buy. They run about 50 bucks at an electrical supplier.

When I installed my garmin on my walleye boat I went to lowes and got a piece of PVC that the connector would go thru and fed it thru the right side of the boat where the steering cable goes thru and the used a fish tape to pull the cable thru. No trouble getting connection end thru and did not catch on anything .

If you already have a transducer wire running back there, tie a string to the wire and pull it out. Then tie the new one to the string and pull it back through. My Tracker 17.5 has a channel running from behind the drivers seat to the rear of the boat. I removed the screws and had access to the cables.

Depending on the type of boat, there could potentially be a cover that can be removed that house all of your steering cables and electrical wiring. Usually requires you removing a few screws.

25' Klein steel fish tape. They're reasonable priced if you have a Home Depot close by and they're worth their weight in gold when you need to pull a wire. I just pulled a ton of wiring through my new-to-me Ranger and used that little tape for every bit of it.
