Default Saltwater Use - Pontoon question

    HI Guys,

I have been looking for a new pontoon and found one someone was selling. When got there to look at it, I could tell it had been run in saltwater - This is a 2018 model/ bought in late 2017 and only run 4-5 iimes.
No hour meter though.. Boat has been in storage since April this year. I'm not sure the owner flushed the motor after use and before being stored. Is there any way to tell short of pulling the head?
Supposedly motor has <10 hrs... Changing room hinges were all rusted. galvanized trailer and the pontoons had some oxidation as well as the anodes on motor which causes me to question..

If the engine is big/new enough, a mechanic ought to be able to hook up to it and read the hours with a scanner.

Model of the motor will help the guys determine a course of action for you.

Thanks Sunshine... It's a 2018 Mercury 90 command thrust.. The hours on it can't be many at all.. My main concern is the saltwater use, and flushing of the engine.. This was bought/ used in the Ft Meyers area. The son of the owner was the one taking it out, which also would concern me on the break in .. it's a tracker 2018 20ft fishin barge
I wish I had a program to hook p myself see hours, rpm's etc

Have a dealer hook it up to a computer. They can tell hours and run times at what rpm. Also ask about salt water in the cooling system. With only 10 or so hours, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Check for warranty also.
