    Question Need a merc mechanic?

I need a merc mechanic in tristate area (greater cincy area) that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. Anyone know of a reliable reasonable price to do some work on my merc xr6 150hp. I live in Alexandria and can travel to get her worked on. You can PM if you want.
    Thanks
    Bassky, Dave

I know Tracker Marine out in Fairfield works on Mercs.
I bought a new motor from them 2 years ago and I like the guys in the shop. The manager has been in the boat business a long time and seems very knowledgeable to me.
Not sure what kind of boat you have but it might be worth a phone call.
Their prices for some added work I needed to get done were very reasonable.
    Good luck

Is the marine dealership/shop in Alexandria closed? I don't have any personal experience with them but my BIL has had them work on his Yamaha. Can't remember the name. A knowledgeable/honest marine mechanic could stay busy & make a very good living here where I live in Northern Kentucky. There are a couple of guys here local & they can fix stuff but the truth isn't in them.

That would be Weidas marine. They gave me a quote of $700 to put in a new carrier assy, have to pull heads to put new race on end of crankshaft where splines on driveshaft mesh with crank gear. Mine came loose and I can't get lower unit on, changed waterpump.

Bassky ... don't know if they'd be any cheaper, but you could call Stokley's Marine in Nicholasville ... ask to speak to Ralph Stokley. Since you already know what needs to be done, Ralph should know about how long it would take & how much it would cost. Then compare prices, driving time, & loss of use time.
