Default OPINIONS ON POWERWINCH RC23 AND RC 30

I am looking for a wireless remote control winch. I am currently using a Strongarm TW4000 and using a piece of paracord to operate it remotely. The Powerwinch RC models seem to be the only wireless choices.

After reading a bunch of reviews not real impressive on longevity. Some say they are fine but when you see busted or stripped gears on new winches think I would shy away especially for the price. Think I would investigated warren atv winches to see what they offer.

    Amazon.com: Warn 89020 Vantage 2000 Winch - 2000 lb. Capacity: Automotive

Amazon.com: Warn 90288 Wireless Remote for ATV and UTV: Automotive

I think if it was me I'd look at something like this combo. Might have to build a mount to get winch drum aligned but by installing this wireless remote should mak a heck of a combo for about the same money.

I've seen good and bad reviews,I'm hoping to find someone who has experience with one. I want it to be able to install it on the winch mount with no modifications.

I think it should be possible to use the harbor freight remote kit and wire it in to your existing winch to gain remote control.
All the remote kit does is activate the relay in the winch the same as the manual switch and has a range of about 50 feet.
Kit cost about 40.00 and they often run sales that have coupons that will give 20% off on most products they carry and would be worth the cost to try it.

Wiring it should be fairly easy to figure out and then you have a winch you trust and remote to boot plus you will still have the switch on the winch active as well to operate the winch from there as well if needed.

I tried one of the smaller HF remote winches and the remote worked great, the only problem I had was my boat was not heavy enough to put enough tension on the cable as it was winding and when you would snug the boat against the bow stop would bury the cable on the spool. I like a strap much better than a cable.

Also did not like the idea of if the winch failed you had no way to load the boat as there is no handle backup on the non marine atv style winches.

Just curious as to what kind of boat you fishing out of that would require a 7500# or 11500# winch?
