    Default batteries

Anyone have any experience with conventional deep cycle vs agm type battery for powering trolling motor. Always used deep cycle units removed from standby power equipment and could get sometimes 4+ years service. My source has dried up not sure if the agm is worth the extra cost. Comments???

If you want an AGM, like the blue top, catch up with a guy in a battery distributor truck. Had one offer me a couple of those for about $60 each. They had a broken stud or something that made em a second but they were new enough and well worth the money. Might have a couple of turn backs from a parts store that are out of date but never used. If the stud is broken you could get a terminal that utilized the post instead of the stud and has a stud on the terminal. Food for thought.

I have a Cabela's AGM size 27 (paid $179) for my 12v TM. It's 6 years old and still going strong.

Ran my 70 lb. Minn kota(variable speed) today on cont. run from 6;00 a.m. - 2 :30 p.m. pulling crankbaits . Would still set you down if you turned up to 70 %. Running the blue top 27 series on a 1648 war eagle .
