Default Need Help Identifying Boat Manufacturer

This might be in the wrong Place, if so please put it where it goes. Thank you Moderators... O.K. I bought this boat and just about have it ready for the motor. Got a bit of money, and went to put Insurance on it and told because the title don't list a manufacturer and the Manufacturer I.D. # comes back as "Kansas Home built", He cant help without knowing who actually Made it. It is in no way a home built boat. I have looked and I can't find a picture of one like it. The Title says 1969. So here's some Pic's....Name: 20180304_094412 (1).jpg

Size: 85.0 KBThese are the way it was when I bought it...I searched all over this thing and there is no manufacturer's tag anywhere. I figure who ever took the seats and transom out mistakenly threw the registration tag out with it. I have a title for it, but it does not list a make, only type...Utility. Any idea's, help would be greatly appreciated. Cant swap the tittle till I have insurance, can't get insurance till I know who made it. Thanks again, Eric, AKA "jamesdean".

I believe that is an old Alumacraft. My Dad had one like that when I first started crappie fishing w/ him on the TN River in the 50's. It had a seat at the bow, but it looks like it was removed and replaced with some L-brackets. That seat was where we sculled...no trolling motor back then. This was when I was 10, and now I'm 70! Brings back old memories. Hope this helps.

Thank you armyman, it could very well be. If you look at the 4th picture where it shows the steel hinges,( that I removed ), you can see what could be the remains of what are probably the front seat brackets. The title says 1969, probably because that's when a previous owner registered it after having lost the tittle and Kansas issued this number. I'll see if I can locate a picture of one so I can show them if they question why the I.D. number don't match an alumicraft #'s. And no I'm not volunteering any info to them on it other than that....Thanks again. Eric, AKA "jamesdean".

O.K. Googled up Alumicraft 14" aluminum boats and a bunch of boats popped up. Diferent brands which helped a lot. Printed the three paiges out and went out to compare them to mine. The 14' Richline matched perfect except for the missing seat up front. Thanks again armyman. Sometimes just a little help in direction is all it takes to spark an idea and hit the target dead center. Thanks again. Eric, AKA "jamesdean".

I went through a similar ordeal with a 1972 Starcraft. No ID plate or hull id number. I had the engraving shop at work make me up a plate with all of the necessary data like max hp, capacity, manufacturer, etc. I made up a serial number. Then I was able to register and title it. That was in FL back in '82. Good luck

Morning Aquadog, Ya man this can be a hassle. I found out it is a RichLine Challenger 14'. For the sake making things easier, I am keeping the #'s that Kansas gave it in 1969 that is already on the title. Through some research on google I was able to come up with an original add for the boat that listed max h.p. as being 35hp. it says seats 4 but don't give a maximum weight capacity. Not sure if RichLine boats is still in business but not hard to find out. Once I have all the data then it will be off to get a couple plates made. One in-site, one in an inconspicuas place so should it ever be stolen, better chance at recovery, (maybe)...thanks for the info, and reply. You over their where I once lived a time or two. Stationed at Ft. Eustis for a while, and then lived up in Gloucester for a bit with my 1st ex...fished around the York river a bit, as well as the James River. Small world...well thank you again. I've got a 14ft 67 Play King my dad bought new at Woolco (Woolworth version of K Mart at the time) that came with a 4 horse Eska motor. It never had a data plate or serial number because that was before they had to put a horsepower rating or capacity on them. The Tennessee registration card has always been blank where it calls for the hull id. Pretty similar to yours so that could be why you couldn't find a tag on it. Mine has an early 70s 20 horse Merc dad put on it which is actually a little more than I think it should have, but I use it on a regular basis and after all these years still does the job.

I believe Richline evolved into Lowe boats in Lebanon, Mo. You might check with them.
